Regardless, they can't be trained when they're in cages and you'll want the animal to atleast be -trained- (that's a level of "tamed") before you put them to pasture.Ī semi-wild animal can relapse into a wild animal all too easily and if an animal goes wild while on pasture then you can't capture them anymore as they're now trap immune.Īlso in the z-screen is "b" to select the animal for butchering or "enter" to allow dwarfs to pick the animals as pets.Want to start playing? Read this sidebar! I think you have to assign their pasture as "animal training area" but I'm not actually sure about that. You'll need to tame the animal first though and once they're tamed they need to be out of their cages to be trained. If you want the animal trained, press "w" for war training or "h" for hunting training. Then selected the animal you want tamed and press "t". You then see a list of every critter in your possession (tame or untamed and in cages). Don't leave it in long enough to become wild!!!! = lots of fun though.Got to run Ill post edit it later After a few rounds you will need to open the room up, open the giant cave spiders single tile room up, and have it caged so you can train it back up to a good level. Pull the lever, lift the cages, golbins are now "in the open" of their single tile room, and the giant cave spider's cage has also been lifted, spraying begins. Oh, you will need to place them in cages, then link all of the cages (goblin cages). Dumb everything off of the goblins for easy injury-free killing. When the room is full you open the room, open the goblin rooms, kill them, and collect. These rooms will need access so that you can pull the goblins out to allow your dorfs in to collect the web. These are where you will drop (pit) goblins. Around the fortification will be signle tile rooms. A Forification will be built all around it except for one square whick will be a bridge (again linked to a lever). A cage will be built and linked to a lever in the center. In the center of the lower room, you will need to build a series of walls and fortifications to allow the web through. You will also need space for a room above it. I highly recommend tamed plus goblins.ĭig out a room, I can't remember the exact size but big enough to allow the full spread of web spray. You just need to be able to put into the same rooms as hostiles. You can tame it, and that's the fist step. If not (it's just hanging out pooping) sacrifice some cats using zones to lure it over a trap. When the giant cave spider appears it will be caged. build traps as close to the edge as possible (maybe even the edge - can't remember). You've just made it so that animals/nasties/fun can only enter from one side of the map. What I mean is take down all the trees (cause your a dwarf so fuck trees) mine out some walkways for easy access, then wall up all the open sides of the map. The method for them is a bit complicated, but I've used to to set up silk farms. Giant cave spiders are another bag of cats though. I also edit the raws or whatever so I can turn more animals into war animals. They will be so effective you'll take them down. The bigger the map the more of them I make. I essentially make a few giant crosses out of cage traps. Depending on the map, you'll eventually notice certain movement patterns of the animals. Many methods, the one I use is effective enough that I stop doing it. Want to release your small spider in a giant room and wait for it till fill it? Sure. Small animal is simple, you place, stock it, then capture it.
